Obituary

William Charles Schuler of East Earl was born September 11, 1951, and died June 28, 2026, following a courageous battle with HHT blood disorder and cancer at the age of 74 years, 9 months, and 17 days. Bornin in Narvon, he was the son of the late Kenneth N. and Betty Jane (Wert) Schuler and the foster son of the late Jesse and Hellen Neuenschwander with their nine children of Lititz. Married in December of 2020, Bill was the loving husband of Cynthia ‘Cyndy’ (Smart) Schuler.

Bill was well known in the area for his retail sales of produce through Roots Market and roadside stands. He worked for Erb Trucking for over 12 years until retiring in 2024. With great enthusiasm to share the gospel, Bill and Cyndy enjoyed ministering together at the East Cocalico Church of the Brethren in Reamstown, where Cyndy is Pastor. Bill filled many roles at church which included leading the men’s bible study on Saturday mornings, coordinating the ushers, teaching Sunday school, serving on the sound team for Sunday services, and he valued every Sunday afternoon lunch with his friends. Bill was quiet mannered with deep wisdom and had a gift for quoting scripture with great purpose. Bill enjoyed simple pleasures of life, fishing with friends, being outdoors, the beauty of flowers, the birds singing, and long rides through the country with Cyndy. He also enjoyed his Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Duncan, who even came to visit him in the hospital. Bill will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by three sons, James & Sherilyn (Weaver) Schuler of Lititz; Stephen & Janita (Martin) Schuler of Manheim; John Schuler of Labarge, WY; three daughters, Sarah Schuler of Chambersburg, Dwight & Laura (Schuler) Sensenig of Smyrna, and Aaron & Mary (Schuler) Hurst of Seneca Falls, NY and their mother, Barbara S. (Eberly) Schuler; 19 grandchildren; three great granddaughters; three brothers, Robert of Otsego, MI, Ronald of Rougemont, NC, and Paul of Timberlake, NC. Bill was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Kenneth, Jr., and one sister, Doris J. (Schuler) Thomson.
