Samuel Clair, 86, of Reinholds, passed away on April 17, 2026, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. Born on March 15, 1940, Samuel was a son of the late Harvey and Alverta (Eshelman) Clair.
Throughout his career, Samuel contributed significantly inseveral roles that highlighted his commitment and skill. He served as Foreman at Fleet Air Shoe Company for many years, demonstrating leadership and expertise. Later, he worked in the custodial crew for the Cocalico School District, where his reliable presence was a valued part of the community. Embracing his entrepreneurial spirit, Samuel also owned and operated Clair's Antiques in Denver, reflecting his appreciation for history and craftsmanship. Samuel’s passions extended beyond his professional life into hobbies that brought him great joy. He loved working on antique clocks—fixing, building, and repairing them with meticulous care, showcasing a talent and patience that few possess. He found pleasure in landscaping, gardening, and spending time outside. Riding his motorcycle gave him a sense of freedom, and he enjoyed the camaraderie of playing darts and softball, engaging in activities that connected him with friends and family. Those who knew him will remember a man who embraced life’s challenges with quiet strength and a steady hand, leaving behind a rich legacy cherished by all who had the honor of knowing him.
Samuel is survived by three children: Janet Kellie, Sandra Leisey, and Brian Clair; eight grandchildren—Heather Bender, Nathan Bender, Shawn Bender, Gregory Mimm, Connor Leisey, Josh Miller, and Whittany Miller; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two brothers, John Clair and Ben Clair. Along with his parents and several siblings, Samuel is predeceased by his grandson, Christopher Bender.
The family will receive friends and loved ones during a viewing on Monday, April 20th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Good Sipler Funeral & Cremation Centre, Inc., located at 34-38 N. Reamstown Road in Reamstown, PA. Sam’s final resting place will be at Mellinger’s Union Cemetery.
