Patricia “Pat” McQuate, 87, of Denver, passed away on October 5, 2026, at Gardens at Stevens Nursing Home. She was born on May 4, 1939, in Reamstown to the late Carl & Erma (Wingenroth) McCarty, and the loving wife of Nevin McQuate.
A graduate of Cocalico Union High School, Class of 1957, Patricia went on to build a long and dedicated career as a lab technician at Ephrata Hospital, where she worked for more than 40 years until her retirement. Patricia was a faithful member of Mellingers Lutheran Church and gave her time and energy to the community in many meaningful ways. She and Nevin were part of the founding group that started the Denver Fair Association, an accomplishment that reflected her commitment to local traditions and to bringing people together. In her younger years, she taught majorettes baton, sharing her talents and enthusiasm with others. Patricia was known as the kindest and most giving person, and her love for her family was at the center of her life. She found joy in life’s simple and creative pleasures, especially knitting, needlepointing, and stamping. Patricia will be remembered with love for her generous spirit, her steady devotion to her work and community, and the many ways she shared kindness throughout her life.
Along with her husband, Nevin, Patricia is survived by her son, Cory (Dede) McQuate; two grandchildren, Nathen (Alisha) McQuate & Amber (Jonathan) Acosta; four great grandchildren, Ayden McQuate, Adonis Acosta, Rose McQuate, Holly McQuate; and brother, Roger McCarty. Along with her parents, Patricia is predeceased by her daughter, Tammy Sue McQuate, and son, Keith McQuate.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Mellingers Evangelical Lutheran Church, 80 Gockley Road, Stevens, PA 17578.
