Larry L. Young, 89, of Ephrata, passed away on October 30, 2026, at Keystone Villa of Ephrata. Born on March 15, 1937, in Shillington, to the late Paul H. & Kathryn (Johe) Young, and the loving husband of 28 years to S. Isabel (Rathman) Young until her passing in 2002.
Larry lived a life marked by service, steady work, faith, and commitment to his community. He served in the United States Air Force for more than 20 years, a significant chapter of his life that reflected his dedication and sense of duty. Following his military service, Larry worked for 32 years at High Concrete at the Denver, Pennsylvania plant. His long career there spoke to his reliability, strong work ethic, and the pride he took in doing his job well. Larry was deeply involved in the life of his community. He was a member of the Ephrata Pioneer Fire Company and a devoted member of Salem UCC Church in Reamstown, where he also served as a church councilman. He further gave of his time as a member of the board for Salem Union Cemetery. In the years beyond work and service, he found enjoyment in the things he loved most, including hunting, fishing, and stock car racing. Family and friends will remember Larry as a man whose life was rooted in commitment—to his country, to his work, to his church, and to the community he faithfully served. His presence will be missed by those who knew him and shared in the many parts of his long and meaningful life.
Larry is survived by two children, LeAnn & Leslie; two stepchildren, Kurt & Kris; many grandchildren and step grandchildren; his brother, Galen Young; and first cousin, Joanne Stefan Young.
