Larry R. Shober, 86, of Ephrata, passed away on July 13, 2026, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. Born on November 15, 1939, in East Cocalico, Larry was a son of the late George R. & Ada A. (Fritz) Shober, and the loving husband of Charlotte (Buohl) Shober for 60 years.
Larry’s commitment to his work was unwavering. For about twenty-five years, he worked in their maintenance team and served as a supervisor at Bollman Hat Factory, retiring from the role in 2005. Larry was also a valued member of Muddy Creek Lutheran Church, where his faith supported and guided him throughout life’s journey. A man of wide-ranging interests, Larry enjoyed hunting in his younger days and developed a keen enthusiasm for antiques. He found pleasure in both shopping for and arranging antique displays. Whether discovering an unexpected treasure or sharing stories about his finds, Larry was happiest when surrounded by family, friends, or the trappings of another era. Larry cherished family trips to the Outer Banks, to the mountains, and to the beach—times filled with laughter, togetherness, and the quiet satisfaction of simply being with loved ones. Devoted to his family, Larry was at his core a true family man—a role he held close to his heart. Larry’s memory will remain treasured in the hearts of all who were privileged to know him.
Larry is survived by his loving wife Charlotte Shober; four children: Vicki (Will) Moyer, Dwayne (Patti) Shober, Lori (Gene) Roberts, Darryl (Charlene) Shober; twelve grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; and three sisters— Faye (Robert) Wenrich, Pat (Greg) Adair, and Debra Redpath. Larry is predeceased by his brothers George, Clifford, Ronald, Randy, and Gary Shober.
A viewing will be held on Friday, July 17th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m., taking place at Muddy Creek Lutheran Church: 11 S. Muddy Creek Road, Denver, PA 17517. Larry’s final resting place will be at Muddy Creek Cemetery in Denver.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are appreciated to Muddy Creek Lutheran Church: 11 S. Muddy Creek Road, Denver, PA 17517.
