Roy L. Zander, 78, of 188 Black Horse Road, Adamstown, Lancaster County, died Wednesday morning at 10:02 AM in the Ephrata Community Hospital where he was a patient for four days. Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Elam E. and Mabel M. (Steinman) Zander, and was the husband of Ethel (Rice) Zander. A navy veteran of World War II he was a life member and past trustee of the Adamstown VFW, a life member of the Lititz American Legion and a member of the Navy Club of Lebanon. He was the owner and operator of Zander’s Garage, Adamstown, for the past 52 years. Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Chris Zander, Adamstown; 2 sons, Edward F., married to Laure E. (Fink) Zander, Adamstown; and Frederic A., married to Susan L. (Bath) Zander, Lincoln, Nebraska; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; and 2 sisters, Pauline M. Risser, Ephrata, PA; and Zelma D. Services Funeral ceremonies will be held on Monday, July 16, 2001, at 4:00 PM from Swamp Evangelical Lutheran Church, 275 Swamp Church Road, Reinholds, PA, with The Reverend Dennis L. Trout officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
