Miriam Wise

     Miriam Wise, age 87, formerly of Bowmansville, Lancaster County , died Tuesday, August 24, 2005, at Masonic Village , Elizabethtown , Lancaster County , where she resided since 1999.  Born May 16, 1918, in Shillington, Berks County , she was a daughter of the late John A. and Erma (Hoffert) Lyons, and was the widow of Paul S. Wise, who died December 23, 1998.     She was a member of St. Paul ’s United Church of Christ, Bowmansville, and enjoyed sewing, knitting and bowling.  Miriam was a former Girl Scout Leader in Bowmansville and volunteered for 15 years at the Thrift Shop of Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading, Berks County .  Mrs. Wise was bookkeeper and secretary with her husband’s firm, Paul S. Wise Contractor, Bowmansville.  She was also a member of John Hepler Chapter #521 Order of Eastern Star, West Reading .  Surviving is a son, Leonard H., husband of Brenda (Kilhefner) Wise, Bowmansville , PA ; a daughter, Nancy E., wife of Bruce G. Werner, Carlisle, PA; a granddaughter and a great-grandson. A brother, Paul Lyons, preceded her in death.

There will be no public viewing. Private services will be held from Good Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Inc. of Reamstown with her pastor, The Reverend Robert A. Witmyer, officating. 

Private inurnment in Bowmansville Union Cemetery , Brecknock Township , Lancaster County, PA.
