Marvin
S. Sweigart, 84, of Ephrata Manor, 250 Parkview Heights Road,
Ephrata, Lancaster County, formerly of Reamstown, died
Saturday morning at 2:10 AM in the Ephrata Community Hospital
where he was a patient 2 days.
He resided at Ephrata Manor for the past 3 years.
Born
in Red Run, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Elmer
and Elsie V. (Burkhart) Sweigart.
His wife, Kathryn W. (Schnader) Sweigart, died October
24, 1996.
He
was a member and past councilman of Muddy Creek Evangelical
Lutheran Church, Swartzville, PA.
Sweigart
was the owner and operator of Sweigart’s Poultry, Stevens,
for over 35 years.
He retired in 1980.
Many years ago he had also been employed as a full
fashion knitter.
A
1936 graduate of East Cocalico Vocational School, Reamstown,
he was a past president and Melvin Jones Award recipient of
the East Cocalico Lions Club, Reamstown, a member of Ephrata
Lodge #665 Free & Accepted Masons, the Rajah Shrine of
Reading and the Ephrata Elks Lodge.
Marvin enjoyed bowling and was an avid hunter.
He
is survived by 2 sons, Ray E., married to Susan (Schwartz)
Sweigart, Stevens, PA; and Marlin L., married to Shirley
(Brown) Sweigart, San Antonio, TX; 3 daughters, Linda M.
(Sweigart), married to Edward H. Priepke, Lancaster, PA; Jayne
L. (Sweigart), married to J. Clifford Martin, Stevens, PA; and
Doris E. (Sweigart) Gehman, Bowmansville, PA; 9 grandchildren
and a great-grandson.
A
sister, Violet G. (Sweigart), widow of Leon W. Artz,
Bowmansville, PA, also survives. |

Viewing
& Funeral... Marvin's viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2002, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM from our parlors. The funeral ceremony will take place from Muddy Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church, 11 South Muddy Creek Road, Denver, PA, on Wednesday morning, November 27, 2002, at 11:00 AM with his pastor, The Reverend Jeffrey K. Lott, officiating. There will be a viewing at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will follow the service in Muddy Creek Cemetery, Swartzville, PA. Flowers are welcomed, and you may also remember Marvin with contributions to the Leukemia Research Foundation, 820 Davis Street, Suite 420, Evanston, IL 60201. |
