Ruth
E. Merkel, 95, formerly of Denver, Lancaster County, died
Sunday afternoon at 4:30 PM in Fellowship Manor, Whitehall
Township, Lehigh County, PA, where she resided the past 6
years.
Born
in
Kutztown, Berks County, she was a daughter of the late
Grover G. and Lydia (Young) Driebelbis.
Her husband, George H. Merkel, died March 12, 1986.
She
was a Protestant.
Retiring
in 1975, she was employed for 23 years by the former Dutchmaid,
Inc., Ephrata.
Mrs.
Merkel enjoyed sewing, especially tatting.
Surviving
is a son, Philip G., married to Cheryl J. (Rahe) Merkel,
Whitehall, PA.
Ruth's viewing will be held on Friday morning, June 27, 2003, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the multi-purpose room of Fellowship Manor, 3000 Fellowship Drive, Whitehall, PA 18052. The funeral ceremony will begin at 11:00 AM with Pastor Harvey Fritz officiating. Graveside services will be on Friday at 2:00 PM from Fleetwood Cemetery, Berks County, PA, with Pastor Mardy von Harten officiating.
