He was under the care of Hospice of Lancaster County.
Born
January 20, 1923, in Yellow Pine,
Alabama
, he was a son of the late Jacob and Anna (Funk) Klaassen, and
was the husband of Ida R. (Trostle) Klaassen for 55 years.
Pete
had was employed as a machinist with Sperry New Holland, now
CNH, New Holland, and was also a route salesman for Harting's
Bakery, Bowmansville.
An
army corporal with the 285th
Observation Battalion in World War II, he served the
European Theatre receiving a purple heart for injuries
sustained in
Luxembourg
.
A
member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Bowmansville,
he was a former scoutmaster of Cub Pack 34, a charter member
of Dead Eye Hunting Camp, Potter County, an avid outdoorsman
and Philadelphia “Phillies” fan.
Surviving
in addition to his wife are 4 sons, Michael P. Klaassen,

; Bruce A., husband of Jackie (Weaver) Klaassen, New Holland,
PA; and Chris Lee, husband of Glenda (Fritz) Klaassen,
Ephrata, PA; 7 grandchildren; a sister, Tina (Klaassen)
Wingenroth, Ephrata, PA; and 2 brothers, Abram Klaassen, New
Holland, PA; and Joseph Klaassen, Denver, PA.
He
was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Brendle, and 2
brothers, Henry and John Klaassen.
