Rosa Michelle Gonzalez, age 25, of 200 N. Mill Street, Birdsboro, Berks County, died Saturday morning in the Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading, following an apparent drive by shooting on Front Street in Reading Friday evening. An autopsy was performed in Allentown on Sunday. Born in Coamo, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of Luis R. Gonzalez, Coamo, Puerto Rico, and Rosa M. (Alvarade) Rea, Denver, PA. She had been a waitress and a volunteer teacher’s aide at a Birdsboro Christian school where her daughter, Samantha R. Steel, attended. Surviving in addition to her parents and daughter, is her companion with whom she resided, Richard J. Steel III; 2 sisters, Kathy Jo (Gonzalez) Mayers, Manon, Indiana; and Janitza (Gonzalez) Mace, Ephrata; a brother, Luis R. Gonzalez, Denver, PA; Step-father, George E. Rea, Denver, PA; maternal grandmother, Myra V. Luna, Coama, Puerto Rico; and paternal grandparents, Luis Antonio & Theda Gonzalez, Bowmansville, PA.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening, August 8, 2001, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with a ceremony at 8:00 PM. All from our parlors.
