Mary
Ellen Sheidy, 65, of Denver
Borough, Lancaster County, PA, died in her home Saturday,
April 5, 2008, after a long illness.
Born in Coatesville, a daughter of Harold
Shoemaker, Sr., Christiana, and the late Roberta (Clifford)
Rinier, she was the wife of Charles W. Sheidy for 47 years.
A 1960 graduate of Octorara
High School, Mary Ellen received her Associates in English degree
with honors from Philadelphia
Community College. She worked for
Muskogee School for the Blind, Muskogee, Oklahoma, Beacon
Lodge Camp for the Blind, Mt. Union, PA (founded by her uncle,
Carl Shoemaker), and as a legal secretary for many years.
A member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic
Church, Ephrata, she was a talented gardener, an avid
“Scrabble” player and regularly completed the New York
Times Sunday crossword puzzles.
More than anything else, Mary Ellen lived for her
family, especially her grandchildren.
Also surviving are a daughter, Jennifer, wife of Steve
Wolfson, Bloomfield, NJ; sons, Sean, husband of Sandi (Doll)
Sheidy,
Camp Douglas, Wisconsin; and Kevin, husband of Lori (Fox)
Sheidy, Lititz, PA; grandchildren, Mandi, Brandi, Kolin, Ryan,
Lauren & Madeline; brothers, Harold (Janina) Shoemaker,
Jr., Gretna, Virginia; Larry (Cheryl) Rinier, Syracuse, NY;
and Richard Rinier, Reinholds, PA.
A sister, Suzanne Enright, predeceased her.
